Mental Hygiene

Mental hygiene is the science that promotes mental health and prevents mental illness. It is also the art of protecting the mind from external factors that inhibit the development of the individual. 

The Mental Hygiene Institute is here to help you eliminate negative patterns and unhealthy emotions. We use scientifically proven methods to develop, maintain and promote the behavioural, emotional and social skills needed to sustain good mental health. 

As children we quickly learn the strict rules of bodily hygiene, but we do not know enough about the hygiene of our thoughts or how to: 

-manage our emotions 

-express our feelings in a healthy way 

-deal with the difficult situations we all have to face in life -protect ourselves from toxic messages 

-avoid or leave destructive relationships 

Many people go their whole life without figuring out the above. Others reach a certain point when they feel stuck and want to change. They choose to respect their whole being and give equal importance to their inner cleanliness as to external cleanliness. 

The help offered by a psychologist is recommended not only in times of crisis, but also for maintaining mental balance, because the combination of genetic factors to ensure this goal is very rare. Mental hygiene can be supported by ongoing or periodic counselling sessions.
